Our February 8th Club meeting featured the yearly Club Assembly where we get to hear from all our board members about what their responsibilities are and special projects they are working on. Since our President-Elect John Wilson was at President-Elect Training we started off with your scribe and Vice President Teri Muse. Here is a re-cap of the Club Assembly:
• Vice President—Teri Muse: Meeting operations, social activities and publicity or communication efforts all fall under the VP role.
• Treasurer—Ed Beranek: The money man. We need to keep paying our dues on time and support our fundraisers to keep us in a good financial position.
• Secretary—Dave Totten: keeps attendance, minutes at board meetings and passes on to membership names of members who have been absent so we can follow up to see if they are ok.
• Public Image—Karen MacNair: Manages our Facebook account, website and keeps our social presence fresh and relevant.
• Membership—Jim Pontello : follows up on guests and potential members, conducts new member orientation . Jim created an ‘invitation’ business card we can give potential members to invite them to our meetings.
• Vocations—Larry Callaham: organizes the application and award process for all vocational programs including teacher and student mini-grants, scholarships, 4-way speech contest, Dan Stover Music Program and much more.
• International—Rosie Mares: carrying on Dick Martinez’ legacy of our support of orphanages and needy people thru a partnership with the Tijuana Rotary. We donate wheelchairs, repair buildings and most recently donated new appliances to an orphanage.
• Environmental—Ashley Andrews: organizes our Arbor Day luncheon at the Arboretum and this year we will participate in the LEAF environmental program for school children. Interract students will assist at our Rotary booth promoting our club.
• Youth Services—Kathy Ellison: coordinates our participation in TLC (Teen leadership camp) for middle school students, RYLA leadership academy for high school students and Interract high school Rotary club.
• Community Service—Brent Forsee: organizes students to volunteer for all our events like Field of Honor, Monte Carlo Night and much more.
