“We the People … The Citizen and the Constitution” Team

March 10, 2020

On February 5, 2010, the “We the People” team from Arcadia High School earned the California State Championship title and became only the 4′ team in Arcadia history, and the first since 1997, to qualify for the national competition in Washington D.C. We are proud to represent our school, our community, and our state in this distinguished event. In order to be able to compete at the national level, we are seeking financial support from our family, friends and community to attend the final stage of competition in Washington D. C. from April 21 – April 27, 2010

“We the People” is a competitive civics experience sponsored by the Center for Civic Education, under the direction of the United States Department of Education. Students’ knowledge of the Constitution, the founding of our Country, and the evolution of American government is tested in simulated congressional hearings that foster critical thinking and creativity.

Our team of 30 seniors has spent countless hours of study and preparation. During this time, we as a diverse group of students have come together as one team; supporting each other in the most difficult and rigorous experience of our lives. We have learned that each member is an integral part of the team as a whole, and have come to value the unique perspective each person has to offer. We are very excited to go to Washington D.C. to compete against 1,500 of the brightest students from around the United States. Since only one team may represent each state, the competition will be incredibly tough.

We consider it to be a distinct honor to represent our community and hope you will support us in our quest to bring home a national title. To make our dream come true, it will take upwards of $50,000 of community support to send the 30 of us to Washington D.C. We need your help! Any measure of support will bring us closer to this goal, so please consider making a donation. Check can be made out to:
