Rotarians and guests arrived early at Arcadia’s Santa Anita Race Track for the annual “Day at the Races”. Several tables at the Frontrunner Restaurant were filled by the anxious betters, waiting for the first post of the day. This always well attended event brings out the gambling spirit in the Club. Using tote, George Fasching’s selections, Rotarians went to the cashiers’ booth frequently to collect their earnings. It was a beautiful day at the track, with the San Gabriel Mountains setting an awesome background for the scene.

The race card for the day included eight races spread out over almost four hours. A big winner for the day was former Rotarian President Rich Hutton, who parlayed his winnings for a pleasant ride home. Others enjoying the ambiance of the Frontrunner were Mike Ojeda and wife, Ana; Dirk Hudson and wife, Sharon; Bruce McCallum; among others. Kudos go to Don Milefchik for handling the event. It was great to see Mary in attendance. In all, a good time was had by all.
