1. Mike Ojeda encouraged us to bring prospective members to Rotary. He cited the example of Aaron Rose whom he had met at his children’s school. Mike invited Aaron to a meeting, and now he is a very involved member. Aaron had an announcement of his own: The next Red Badgers event will be a comedy night at the Ice House in Pasadena on Sept. 25th. Please contact Aaron if you would like to attend.

2. Dick Martinez told of a contribution from the Arcadia Foundation to a member of the Tijuana Rotary that financed a life saving procedure. This person has been our contact for our international project in Baja for many years. Dick also announced that John Davis’ school is donating computer tables to Tijuana orphanages and an elementary school. He asked for volunteers to load a truck that will deliver the tables in Tijuana. Please contact Dick if you can help.

3. A club flag from the East Portland Rotary Club was presented to Pres. Brad by Jim Rider who attended a meeting there. Brad reminded us that we have a supply of flags that members can take when planning to attend a Rotary meeting in another town.

4. Plans are set for the Progressive Dinner, according to Bob Harbicht. The date is Sept. 30 and there is still time to sign up. It will start at the Harbicht’s home for wine and cheese and progress to a members’ home for dinner.

5. Pres. Brad thanked two Rotarians for their efforts on two important projects. Andy Bundesmann proofread the 2011/12 roster and got it ready for publication, and Don Milefchik refinished our podium and got it in working order. It even goes up and down to accommodate the height of the speaker!

6. Bob Novell had Yvonne Flint and John Fee come to the podium to receive Paul Harris pins in honor of their contributions. Bob explained that Yvonne was awarded a PH + 3 pin for over $4,000 in total contributions, and John received a PH + 2 Rubies pin for over $7,000.

7. Two Red Badgers, Robert Granger and Richard  Schulhof, were elevated to the Blue Badge level by Pres. Brad who presented them with their new Blue Badges.

8. The final two announcements were made by our President. The race track is offering free passes to anyone who wants to go on Sept. 30th, and the Arcadia Historical Society is asking Rotarians to volunteer to help in their 10 year birthday celebration that will be held on Oct. 9th. Please contact Brad if you can help.
