On Friday, October 18th District Governor Miles Petroff and his wife will visit with four Rotary Clubs at the L.A. County Arboretum’s Peacock Café at 5:30 PM. Come out to the Arboretum and spend some time with our District Govenor! Tram tours of the Arboretum will be available at 4:30 and 5:00 PM. Cost is $25 per person, or $45 per couple.

On Sunday, October 20th Arcadia Rotary will celebrate Octoberfest at the residence of Jim and Sandy Rider. Don’t miss this fun opportunity to raise a mug of “bier” with our esteemed Red Badgers. Jim’s home is located at 137 Mauna Loa in Monrovia. The event will be from 3 to 6 PM.

On Sunday, October 27th the annual JDRF-LA “Walk for a Cure” of Juvenile Diabetes will take place at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Registration begins at 8 AM and the Walk begins at 11 AM. Walkers are needed … and donors are needed … for this worthwhile event! Please contact Team Captain Rosie Mares if you’d like to participate and/or donate. Rosie announced that so far we have $1,550 in donations toward our goal of $3,000!

Eric Barter advised that Saturday, Oct. 19th, is a work day at Camp Trask. The fort that is used by the Boy Scouts is in need of staining, board replacement, and other refurbishing. Please contact Eric if you can help with this very worthwhile project.

Are you ready for some F O O T B A L L ? ? ? Arcadia Rotary’s annual Monday Night Football event – one of the the most anticipated and enjoyed events of the year – will be held on Monday, October 28th at the Kalemkiarian’s residence at 1827 Rodeo Rd., Arcadia. Food, snacks, drinks … and football pools will be provided. The cost is $20 per person. Please bring prospective members to this fun event!

Bruce McCallum thanked everyone who volunteered to help with the Taste of Arcadia. The club received a check for $1,250 from the event, a very nice donation for all of Bruce’s and his votlunteers’ efforts.

Pres. Mimi announced the monthly Golden Goose recipients. She presented certificates to John Wilson, Rosie Mares, and Daniel Yohannes for their selection and presentation of those very funny videos that get our meetings off on the right foot every Friday!

The last item on the agenda was the presentation of Paul Harris pins. Our District Governor Miles Petroff, who presented the program, called on Rob Granger and Rosie Mares who received their pins. Miles emphasized the importance of the Foundation and told us that our district had been given $180,000 this year to finance the many important projects undertaken by the district’s clubs.
