1.  President Eric announced that he is through with the first round of radiation treatments and that he now  has his voice back and is well on the road to recovery.  This is great news, Eric.

2.  Membership Chairman Mary Salcedo announced a club membership drive and she will give more information  next week.  She plans on giving a special pin to each person in the club who brings in a new member to the club.

3.  President Eric requested  that each Red Badger write up a biography about himself or herself and give it to Mary Salcedo for publication.

4.  Mike Real announced that Partners in Rotary is having an Octoberfest party on Sunday October 14, 2012, honoring all Red Badgers which is to be held at the home of Mike and Paula Real.  It is free to all Red Badgers and their spouses or significant others.  Everyone is encouraged to attend as it will be a great party. 

5.  The annual Monday Night Football party will be held on October 22, 2012, at the home of Paul Kalemkiarian at 1328 Rodeo Road, Arcadia, CA 91006.  The cost is $20/person which includes food and beverages.   Members are encouraged to bring their spouses or significant others.  This is always a great party. 

6.  The deadline for signing up to be a facilitator at  TLC (Teen Leadership Camp) the weekend of 11/02/12 – 11/04/12 has been extended.   More facilitators are needed.  If you are interested in being a facilitator at this great event, contact Celeste Kelley or Club Administrator Sandra Caldero.

7.  Mike Ojeda announced that the “Walk to Cure Junior Diabetes” is set for 11/11/12 at Dodger Stadium.  They need persons to walk and persons to get signups for donations.  Contact Mike for further information.

8.  International Chairman Aaron Rose announced that the annual trip to work at a Tijuana orphanage will be on the last weekend of January 2013.   Everyone planning on going is requested to apply for  a Passport  Card. right away.   This is separate from a regular Passport. and is for use to enter Canada and Mexico.  You can order it at the local Post Office at a cost of approximately $70.00, and you must bring a certified copy of your birth certificate with you at the time you apply for the Passport Card.  It is recommended that you order it right away as it takes approximately 1 month for it to be sent to you.  The reason for using a Passport Card rather than a a regular Passport  is that automobiles whose passengers all have the Passport Card are put in the fast lane that can cross the border much faster than automobiles with passengers using a regular Passport which are put in the slow lanes that can take about 2-1/2 hours to cross the border.  If you have any questions, contact Aaron Rose.

9.  Aaaron Rose announced that there is a separate District 5300 work project set for 04/13/13 in Tecate, Mexico entitled “Coazon Super Build ” where Rotarians will build 5 homes for poor people in Tecate, Mexico.  This is not connected with our annual work project at orphanges in Tijuana, Mesico.    More information wil be given on the district project at a future time.

10.. Joel Shawn announced the completion of the new Performing Arts Center at Arcadia High School and there will be  a ribbon cutting ceremony  at the Performing Arts Center on Campus Drive  next Thursday 10/18/12 at 4:30 p.m. with a free student concert to follow at 6:30 p.m.  Joel also announced that Paul Anka will perform at a gala opening performance at the Performing Arts Center later in October which is a fund raiser for the school district.  Tickets are now on sale.  Contact Joel Shaw for further details.

11.  President Eric announced that the club has as new Rotary sign which will be hung on the grounds of  Embassy Suites Hotel at the corner of 2nd Avenue and Huntington Drive.
