1. Member Update: Frank Perini is resting at home after open heart surgery.
  2. Next Friday, the 27th, our meeting will be at the Arboretum as we celebrate Arbor Day. We will be at the Peacock Cafe.
  3. The Arcadia Fire Dep’t. will have their annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, May 5th. We will have a membership booth there.
  4. On Tuesday, May 8th, we will have our Salute to Seniors luncheon, starting at 11:30. Please contact George Fasching if you can help.
  5. Brian Cogbill announced to the club that this would be his last meeting. Commitments at home make it difficult to continue his membership. He has been a long standing member, going back 46 years, and will be welcome any time at future meetings.
  6. Teacher Recognition: Brent Forsee introduced the principal of First Avenue Middle School who in turn introduced our teacher of the year, Rebekah McMillan. Rebekah is a Special Ed. teacher.
  7. Francine Chiu told us of a Young Professional Networking Mixer that will be held Tuesday, April 24th, from 6 to 9PM. It will be at the Nano Cafe, 322 W. Sierra Madre Blvd. in Sierra Madre. Rotarians and guests from the Arcadia, Sierra Madre, Monrovia, and Duarte clubs are invited.
  8. Larry Callaham introduced the winner of the George Hensel Essay Contest. She is Nadia Luna, a 9th Grader at Arcadia High. Her essay on the Reluctance of Responsibility was selected first out of 20 entries.
