1. Member Update: Jim Rider was at the meeting after his stay at Methodist. He appeared to be completely recovered. As to his stay at the hospital, he complained about the bland food, but was appreciative of the corner room he occupied where he viewed the 4th of July fireworks displays from several cities in the San Gabriel Valley.

Friday, July 24th, Dist. Gov. Randy Pote will be at our meeting.

Sat., July 25th, is Arcadia Rotary Beach Day, 10:30 a.m.. at Huntington Beach (Brookhurst entrance). Cost is $10 per family which will cover hot dogs, burgers, and drinks. Bring chairs, boogey boards, toys, umbrellas, and surfboards. Mike Real and Matt Weaver will provide surfing lessons.

Sat. Aug. 1st, the Relay for Life will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Santa Anita Race Track Infield. Enter from Colorado Blvd. across from Pepper’s Restaurant. We will have a booth where we will be selling pastrami sandwiches and proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. Cost is $25 and, according to Yvonne Flint, you can register online by going to the Relay for Life website.

Sat. Aug. 1st, the Rotary Clubs of Arcadia, San Marino, and Sierra Madre will be provided dinner and entertainment at the Relay for Life, from 5 to 9:30 p.m., same location as above. Cost is $20 per person for the dinner, and make checks payable to ‘Fresh Gormet’. Send check to Lucille Norberg at 1872 West Drive, San Marino, CA 91108.

Sat. July 25th, Rotary at the Special Olympics, L.A. Coliseum. According to Bruce McCallum, tickets are still available for the Opening Ceremonies. Cost is $40 which includes admission and a T-shirt.
