Dan Stover Music Contest
By: Teri Muse

Five extremely talented high school seniors treated us to a wonderful concert for the January 9th program. These musicians all were competing for the coveted Dan Stover Music Award hosted by the Arcadia Rotary Club. Our three fine judges: Tom Crosby, Brad Miller and David Freeman, all Rotarians who are talented musicians in their own right, had a very difficult decision to make. After much deliberation, they selected the following awardees:

1st Place: Isabell Liao,  Arcadia High School,  Instrument: Marimba
Isabel plans on attending Cal State Fullerton and then transferring to CalArts

2nd Place: Maxine Yuan,  Arroyo Pacific Academy,  Instrument: Piano
Maxine plans to attend UC Irvine and major in Engineering and pursue her music on the side.

3rd Place: Leanne Chen,  Arcadia High School , Instrument: Violin
LeAnn is hoping to attend Rice University.

Honorable Mention: Heather Greenup,   Arcadia High School,  Instrument: French Horn
Heather plans to attend one of two accredited universities in California to become a music therapist.

Isabel will be representing Arcadia in the Regionals and move to the District Championship in Las Vegas if she is successful in her quest. Best of luck Isabel!
