We, a few Arcadia Rotarians, were at the District Conference in Henderson, Nevada this weekend. The weather had been 109 degrees before we arrived but it was in the 70-80’s this weekend and it was beautiful. The event was well attended with 600+ members from District 5300. The Arcadia Rotary Club received seven awards from different categories.

Outstanding awards for large clubs were in:

  • Public Relations due to Bruce McCallum with 8 committee members diligently working with local media reporters.
  • Administration due to our many theme luncheons headed by Brad Miller working with the club service and meal committees.  Part of the Administration award was for our Web Centric Club communication due to Steve Garrett heading up the blog and online communication system with so many members as contributing editors.
  • International and Brad Miller expounded on the details of the Maori Project in New Zealand.

We also received Exemplary awards in Membership, Youth Services and Community Service.

The Arcadia Rotary also was recognized with a Presidential Citation and received a plague for strengthening Rotary’s future through exemplary action and service. We, the Arcadia Rotary Club, shined at the conference for receiving so many awards.

I think we received most awards among the clubs in the San Gabriel Valley. I thank you all for your hard work and great support for the Rotary in my Presidential year. Arcadia Rotary Club has a long history and it will always be an outstanding club and the greatest Rotary Club in the World. Go Arcadia Rotary!!

We are leaving for RI convention in Montreal, Canada. I will be reporting to you the news from there.
