Dave Didier announced the Students of the Month for March, 2010.  The honorees were respectively, James Nolan Ahad (Academics) and Eric Yin (Athletics).

(1) James Nolan Ahad is the Student of the Month for Academics, with a 3.97 G.P.A..

School clubs and organizations in which James participated include the bridge club, and the juggling club.  School activities include the science bowl, and the science Olympics.  These involved him in cancer research on intestinal fluid pressure in order to improve the protocol of detection and treatment.

James’ community activities include working over the summer as a tutor to students in remedial level geometry.

His hobbies include computer programing and tennis.

James has not yet selected a college.  His expected college major is in biomedical engineering and neuroscience, preparing him for a future occupation as a doctor.

James likes to remind himself and others that “a bumble bee cannot fly by the laws of physics, but a bumble bee knows no physics and flies anyway.”

(2)  Eric Yin is the Student of the Month for Athletics, with a 3.54 G.P.A..

For all four years of high school Eric has been a varsity member of the Boy’s Golf Team.  His sportmanship, character and ambition were recognized with various awards and plaques.  In his spare time, Eric plays golf, swims, and stays fit by walking and running.

During Eric’s freshman and sophomore years, he helped set up the Santa Anita Derby 5K (3.1 mile) Run. In other community activities, Eric worked with “Heal the Bay” at Santa Monica beach to clean up trash and cultivate plant growth.  In the course of these volunteer activities, Eric addressed what is to be done to make such events successful.

Although Eric was not born in the Christian faith, a friend introduced Eric to Christianity. For the past three years Eric has been a member of the school Christian club, and participates in praying, singing, and reading the Bible.

Eric also writes poetry, listens to inspirational music, and enjoys interacting with friends over treasured memories.

Eric hopes to attend Cal. Poly Pomona and major in accounting with a view to starting and administering his own business.
