Friday, December 14th was our annual Christmas party with Santa Claus appearing.  Today we had many guests; parents with small children and grandparents eager  to see their grandchildren all dressed up for Santa.  Hopefully, with fingers crossed, that the wee little ones would not cry.   But, prior to Santa arriving, we sang the yearly “Twelve Days of Christmas” lead by Tom Crosby.  This is always fun, as each table is assigned a musical day…and they stand to sing out their stanza.

The dining room, too, was decorated and each table had  individual decorations.

Lots of laughing, talking and of course announcements.

Santa Claus appeared!  Now,the small children were not so impressed.  Today, it seems, we only had one little baby, Tom and “Cece” Miles little 11 month old.  Matt and Denise Weaver, and daughter, Dana, with the Weaver grandsons, and Phyllis Corliss, with son Chris and Riley Corliss, age 21 months.  Out of the group only two little ones ended up in tears!

But, the best of all, is that Santa called on Bobby Novell to come up and sit on his lap (Santa being played by Pat Dolphin).  Bob had taken a terrible hiking fall a month before and had lost his “beloved” hat and hiking sticks  in the steep site where he fell.  Lo and behold the wonderful Dr. John Quigley went to the horrible site of the fall and retrieved the “lost” items and gave them to Santa Claus to give to Bobby Novell.  This good deed, I am sure can never be surpassed!

It was a grand party day, even if some of the little ones cried.

The best of all, of course, was the warmth of comeradity  felt by our club members and friends.

Merry Christmas everyone!

The best, however, was to see Bobby sit on Santa’s lap and to received his hiking items.
