VIP LUNCHEON – APRIL 29

Jeff Tookey, Membership Chair, Reminded us of the upcoming luncheon and the importance of inviting potential new members. He said we are losing members at about the same rate as we are getting new members, and he would like to see an increase in overall membership. The luncheon speaker is a well known columnist who writes for the L.A. Times. A signup sheet was passed around for names and addresses of people you would like to invite.

RYLA UPDATE

Gerard Tamparong and Nikkie Adams reported on last weekend’s RYLA meeting and listed the 10 things they hated. Among the 10 were: “I hate the 7 pounds I gained because of the great food”, “I hated staying up ’till 11 PM listening to the kids saying how much fun they were having”, etc.,etc. Gerard thanked the others who participated, including Rosie Mares, Celeste Kelly, and Tommy Zampiello.

POT-O-GOLD RAFFLE AND SEATING ARRANGEMENTS

George Fasching advised that each member would be assigned 3 tickets for the $10,000 raffle and we would have a chance next week to pick our lucky numbers. Jim Kuhn gave us the prizes for each winning ticket. The first ticket drawn will win $10,000, 2nd will get $2,000, 3rd $1,000 and 4th through 13th will win $200 each. Next week Dick Martinez will start taking table reservations. Each table will seat up to 10 people.

PEACE CONFERENCE – MARCH 19

This event will be held Saturday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 and the subject will be Afganistan. Bob Novell has 4 tickets that are free, so if you are interested, please contact Bob. Bob also took the opportunity to pass around the Polio pigs that have been replaced by buckets.

Matt said that any changes in member information should be directed to our new secretary, Sandra, who has a very definitive list of the membership. He also was pleased to issue a Blue Badge to our incoming Treasurer, Roger Grant.
