Mary Salcedo encouraged club members during her “Membership Minute” to invite guests to both club meetings and to club events so that we can spread the word about what a great Rotary club Arcadia Rotary is.  So let’s all heed Mary’s advice and work to “get the word out” about “the Greatest Rotary Club in the World”!

Be sure to take in Arcadia High School’s production of “The Drowsy Chaperone” at the Arcadia High School Performing Arts Center.  Show times are Friday 3/22 at 7 pm and Saturday 3/23 at 4 pm.  The cost to Arcadia Rotarians is just $10 (normally a $25 VIP ticket).  You can order your tickets online.

Tom Crosby and John Murphy are in need of volunteers to pitch-in and help build 3 planter boxes as part of the “sustainable garden” at the Boys & Girls Club Garden.  Remember … Arcadia Rotary prides itself in being a “hands on club”!  The Boys & Girls Club of the Foothills is located at 600 S. Shamrock Ave., Monrovia.  Please contact Tom Crosby for more information.

Mike Real shared details of Arcadia Rotary’s biggest fundraiser of the year – – the Arcadia Rotary Club’s Annual Monte Carlo Night.  This fantastic event will be held Saturday April 20th at the Arcadia Community Center.  The Derby will be catering the food along with a hosted bar and there will be lots of gaming, excitement and fun for all!  Please invite your friends (see Mary Salcedo’s “Membership Minute” above) so we can show off our club at this terrific event.

Editor’s Note – – Mike announced that Erich Rail was securing raffle prizes for the event, which is incorrect … actually, the Arcadia Rotary’s Red Badgers have taken on this task and have done a terrific job!  However we’re about 6 to 10 raffle prizes short of our goal, so PLEASE, if you’re able to donate a prize for the Monte Carlo Night raffle please let Erich Rail (erail@mwco.com) know.  The Red Badgers and the entire club would very much appreciate it.  Thanks!

Don’t forget that the District Assembly Luau Dinner will be held on Friday April 19th at the Spring Valley Lake Country Club in Victorville at 6 pm.  Please contact Eric Barter for more information.

Speaking of the District Assembly Luau Dinner … the District 5300 Assembly will be held on Saturday April 20th at the Victor Valley Community College in Victorville from 9 am to 2 pm.  Please contact Eric Barter for more information.

PDG Steve Garrett announced (quite loudly) that the 2013 District 5300 Rotary Conference will be held from Friday May 16th to Sunday May 19th at the Town and Country Resort and Convention Center in San Diego.  Arcadia Rotary wants to have a significant presence and has set aside $50 to offset the cost of attendance for any member that attends the conference.  Please contact Eric Barter for more information.  Remember … booking just 60 room nights at the convention will earn Arcadia Rotary a premier hospitality suite!

Please check your calendars and “save the date” for the following events coming up in May and June:

May 14th – – “Salute to Seniors” at the Arcadia Senior Citizens Center

June 15th – – American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life”

June 15th – – Arcadia Rotary’s Installation Dinner celebrating the installation of Mimi Hennessy as our next club president.
