1. George Fasching announced that this year’s Pot of Gold will be on 04/30/11. The entertainment will be an “Encore of the 2002 Pot of Gold”. Jack Lantz’s orchestra will provide music for dancing. The dinner will be provided by the Derby.  George asked every member to donate items for the silent aution and live auction. Every member is to be responsible for 3 tickets. Keith Brown and Jim Kuhn are in charge of the tickets, and there will be a sign-up next week for ticket numbers.

2. Ernie Jensen announced that the 16th annual Peace Conference will be held on Saturday 03/19/11 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Mudd Theater, Claremont School of Theology 1325 N. College Avenue, Claremont, CA (on Foothill Blvd., just east of Indian Hill Blvde. The title of the conference is “Achieving Peace in Afghanistan: Challenges and Opportunities”. Admission is $20/person if registered before 03/01/11 and $30/person if registered after 03/01/11 or at the door. Student admission is $5. 3. Ernie Jensen is looking for homes to house the GSE team from Egypt from 06/02/11 to 06/10/11.  The GSE team will be speakers at our meeting on 06/03/11.

4. Dick Martinez thanked the members who donated used computers, screens and keyboards for the orphanage in Tijuana. Contact Dick if you have any computers, screens and keyboards and he’ll have them picked up and delivered to the orphanage.

5. Mike Ojeda announced that the club meeting on 03/25/11 will be at the Arboretum and and there will be a tree planting ceremony. Signups are being taken for those who plan to attend and those who want to stay for the tree planting. Note that we will be dark that day at Embassy Suites.

6. Mary Salcedo announced that Salute to Seniors is scheduled for 05/10/11 at noon at the Arcadia Community Center. The club sponsors this annual event. Next week she’ll pass a sign-up sheet for members to volunteer to help out at this event.

7. Gil Stromsoe passed around the Polio bucket for donations to wipe out polio around the world. He announced that Rotary International has almost met its goal of raising $200 million and should reach that goal before the convention in May. Bill Gates has increased the amount of his donation.
