Teri Muse Walk-a-thon for Mental Health Awareness

Teri Muse

2020 – 2021 President of the Rotary Club of Arcadia

Teri Muse, a Past President of the Rotary Club of Arcadia, gave generously of her time and energy to promote community involvement, healthy families and accessibility to health resources. Teri’s personal goal was to see an end to the stigma and fear of seeking help for emotional and mental illness. This walk-a-thon is a memorial to Teri who lost her battle with cancer in 2023. Just like she was a light to the members of The Rotary Club of Arcadia and to everyone who interacted with her, we hope to generate light into the darkness of loneliness, depression, anxiety, and fear.

We want everyone to know “You don’t have to struggle in silence.” A quote from Demi Lovato, an outspoken celebrity who shares her struggles and encourages speaking up and reaching out.

Our Purpose to walk

We walk to raise awareness about the importance of self-care and mental wellness, and to encourage individuals to seek the resources and support needed to build a healthy mindset and self-awareness. The walk also raises funds to support Arcadia High School’s Wellness Center, a safe and welcoming space where students can pause, decompress, and receive one-on-one support as they navigate the academic and personal pressures of daily life. The space is open before school, during lunch, and 15-20 minutes after school. The Wellness Center is a light in the busy world of education and a sounding board where one can be heard.
