The President of the Redlands Rotary Club was a visiting Rotarian to our club and an able assistant in helping the Finemasters establish that the proper way to begin a Rotary meeting was by ringing the bell with a gavel, not with the end of the microphone. Our gavel-less President Brad Miller seemed unphased as he was fined $50 and his gavel was returned, once again, to him.
The Arcadia Rotary BBQ Crew were awarded official aprons emblazoned with their names – Tony Parrille, Eric Barter, Mike Ojeda, Bob Harbicht, Mary Salcedo – along with fines of $25 each.
Bob Harbicht seems to be in the local news everywhere – Music in the Park, quoted about the Breeders Cup – but somehow his photo with Bo Derek did not make the front page; she was pictured with another. Although Bob claims he met her and their photo was on the Star News, he was still fined $75. Frank Perini was fined $25 for apparently appearing in a small photo with Bo.
David Hu (or was that Dennis Hu?) used his new hat to demonstrate the upcoming Household Battery Collection drive, but earned a $30 fine anyway.
Although congratulated for his faithful support of Arcadia Rotary, Bill Gleason couldn’t avoid the photographic evidence of snoozing during a meeting nor a fine for $50.
Eric Barter’s competitors in the bail bonds business use many clever tag lines to advertise, but none as catchy as his – “Because your mama wants you home.” He earned a $50 fine for tag line excellence.
