Coming Local Rotary Events:
Tuesday, March 8, from 11 am to 9 pm, at Applebee’s on Huntington Drive in Monrovia. If you show the waiter the flyer (or mention it to the manager), fifteen per cent of each bill will go to benefit the American Cancer Society, as part of the Monrovia Relay for Life, in memory of Rob’s wife’s mother who died of cancer. March 11, 2011: Circulation of sign-up list for ticket numbers for the April 30, 2011 Rotary Pot of Gold. Each member is responsible for three tickets.(per Keith Brown) The first ticket has now been sold. (per Mike Ojeda).

June 12, 2011, San Marino Rotary Motor Classic Event (featuring cars vintage 1920s through the 1950s). The event takes place at Lacy Park, from 10 am to 4 pm. Tickets are $25 each, with proceeds to benefit the Pasadena Humane Society. (per Ruth Mayeda, a visiting Rotarian from San Marino Rotary).
Past District 5300 Events
On February 25 – 27, 2011, the District 5300 President Elect Training Seminar (PETS) was held in Las Vegas. Arcadia Rotary’s President Elect Brad Miller was among the 253 Rotarians in attendence. (per Brad Miller)
Paul Harris Fellow Recognitions
Bob Novell awarded Paul Harris Fellow recognition pins to Brian Hall, Bob Hoffman and Tim Vickery, all of whom were Paul Harris Fellows multiple times over. Having now each donated $4,000 to the Rotary Foundation, Brian Hall and Bob Hoffman have thereby become Paul Harris Fellows plus three. Having now donated $7,000 to the Rotary Foundation, Tim Vickery has thereby become a Paul Harris Fellow plus six.
Teachers of the Month
Joel Shawn recognized two Arcadia High School teachers as Teachers of the Month: John Tung and Rita Wilkins. John Tung is Arcadia High’s Activities Director, which is considered a teaching position. Rita Wilkins is Arcadia High’s speech and learning specialist for students with communication difficulties. Rita Wilkins is also an adviser to senior men and women. Mr. Tung could not be present since his presence was required at an ASB Conference.
