New Zealander Simon Woolf, cousin of Arcadia Rotarian Brad Miller, provided an amazing slide show of the beautiful photos he has taken of breathtaking landscapes, unique wedding portraits and world famous people throughout his photography career. Simon made a stop at the Rotary Club after his tour of the City of Arcadia. Simon was particularly interested in seeing City Hall and meeting all the people involved in making the City run. This interest stems from his own involvement in city government in his hometown of Wellington, New Zealand. Simon has been a City Councillor of Wellington since 2013.

Simon is one of four family members running Photography by Woolf, a studio which has been in the family for three generations. Simon’s Father was a famous New Zealand photographer who was killed in a helicopter crash while filming police activity from the air. Simon honors his Father by photographing helicopter rescues pro-bono whenever he has the opportunity.

In addition to sunrises, sunsets, rare and endangered birds, weddings and sporting events, Simon has an impressive portfolio of photos he has taken of famous people including: Prince William, Prince Harry, Ell McPherson, Audrey Hepburn, Hilary Clinton, Tiger Woods, Pope John Paul II, Nelson Mandela, Queen Elizabeth and Michael Caine. Simon’s favorite and probably most famous photograph is of their Royal Highnesse’s The Cambridge Family of William, Kate and baby George. This photo of baby George looking right at the camera while resting his head on Kate’s shoulder and a smiling Prince William is seen in the background appeared on 43 magazine covers and had 3 billion views.
Simon left us all with one piece of advice….print out those favorite photos you have on your phone or Facebook. If you lose your data, those memories are lost. A photograph will last a lifetime.
