It was a balmy evening on the patio of the Peacock Café, decorated in the Hawaiian motif to celebrate our District Governor and his favorite theme. We took it up a notch and dressed DG Miles and his wife Teresa in grass skirts. In good fun, they wore them all evening!

They were joined by members of the clubs of Zone 4 in District 5300: Arcadia, Duarte, Monrovia and Sierra Madre.

Early attendees at 4:00pm and 5:00pm were taken on tram tour around the 127 acres of the arboretum. Tram riders learned that the new Katy Perry video “Roar” was filmed at the arboretum, complete with a real tiger.

The Peacock Café served Hawaiian themed appetizers. Rob Granger and Mike Hoey manned the bar pouring Mai Tais as needed.

To honor Teresa, on the evening of her birthday a game was staged: “Get to Know Teresa” MC’d by Bob Harbicht. Representatives of Arcadia, Sierra Madre and Monrovia Rotary Clubs were quizzed about Teresa. Naturally they knew few answers, but with Bob’s comedic guidance we all learned more about the First Lady of District 5300.
