A. Future Events

1, On Monday, April 3, 2017 there will be a party at Matt Weaver’s house to watch the finals of the NCAA. (per Matt Weaver)

  1. On Tuesday, April 4, 2017 there will be a Board meeting at Matt Denny’s. (per President Elect Tony Parille).
  1. On Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at 7:30 p.m. there will be training for prospective RYLA adult facilitators at Kaizen Martial Arts, 135 E. Chestnut, Ste. 12, Monrovia. There is a need for more male adult facilitators. RYLA will take place on April 28, 29, and 30, including twelve RYLA Arcadia High students. (per Mike Real.)
  1. On Friday, April 7, 2017 , Lance Tibbet, the President of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses will address us on that subject. Club members are requested to bring prospective new members that day. (per Membership Director Francine Chiu ).
  1. On Thursday, April 13, 2017, there will be a public school luncheon at Duarte Masonic Lodge. (per President Rosie Mares. See her for more information.)
  1. On Wednesday, April 19, 2017, there will be a Board Meeting. (per President Rosie Mares)

Starting approximately April 15, et seq. there will be a kiosk at Arcadia’s Westfield Mall to advertise and round up contributors for the club’s second annual Field of Honor (which will be held at from May 20, 2017 through May 30, 2017 at Arcadia County Park). Volunteers are needed to man the kiosk. (per President Rosie Mares.)
  1. On Saturday, April 22, 2017 The District Assembly will be held at the Sitting bull Academy in Apple Valley, CA. All board members should attend. (per President Rosie Mares. See her for more information.)
  1. Also on Saturday, April 22, 2017, Casino Night will take place at Arcadia Community Center. (Contact: Jim Pontello.)
  1. On Friday, April 28, 2017, it will be dark at the Embassy. Instead, Rotary will meet at the Arboretum in celebration of Arbor Day. (Contact: Jim Pontello.)
  1. From Saturday, May 20, 2017 through Tuesday, May 30, 2017, Arcadia Rotary will present the second annual Field of Flags at Arcadia County Park, with the opening ceremony to be held on Sunday May 21, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. The cost per flag is $50; sponsorships from $500 to $5,000 are available.   1. On Friday, June 30, 2017 the club will hold its installation dinner at the San Gabriel Country Club. We will be dark at the Embassy Suites that day. (Contact Eric Barter.)

B. Review of Recent International Projects

1. From February 22 through March 4 there was a Rotary Water Project with a visit to Burma and Thailand. A water tank with a charcoal filter was installed in a remote village. At the meeting on March 31 photos of the water project were shown. (per Matt Weaver).

2. On Saturday, March 25, at the Rotary Club of Tijuana, wheelchairs were distributed to those in need. At the meeting on March 31, photos of the event were shown. (per President Rosie)

C. Blue Badge Award

Francine Chui (previously a red badge Rotarian) was awarded her blue badge by President Rosie.
