Once a month, doctors and nurses fly into remote parts of Mexico to deliver needed medical services and medicine to villagers in remote parts of Mexico.  Unfortunately, villagers in these remote villages are not covered by the government for their health problems; so many go untreated and have no cure for some elemental problems.   The [...]

Fine Master Gerald Tamparong Raises Money

If he had more time, Fine Master Gerald Tamparong would have fined all 57,000 people who attended the Dodger game last Wednesday. To keep it short, he decided on recognizing only Club Rotarians who he knew were there: Eric Barter, Ernie Jensen, Gil Stromsoe, Allen Yack and Tommy Zampiello. [There may have been others named [...]

In [...]

Craft Talk of Jason J. Lee

Posted by Steve Garrett on July 21st, 2009 under Announcements  •  No Comments

Jason just turned 47 the day before last Friday’s Rotary meeting. Looking back, he did not have a “from rags to riches” story like Horatio Alger’s stories to tell his fellow Rotarians. His life has been full of vicissitudes. He was born in a town about one hour from the City of Xi’an, which had [...]

“Bus”ted

Posted by Yvonne Flint on July 20th, 2009 under Recognition  •  No Comments

Fire sale

Ever the astute businessman, Mike Real was lucky enough to pick up a new toy in Bernie Madoff’s fire sale.  In a feeble attempt to avoid parting with even more money, the proud owner of a ski boat was quick to point out that Matt Weaver and he were going to be planning a Rotary [...]

The Butcher and Pretty Boy

Posted by Yvonne Flint on July 20th, 2009 under Recognition  •  Comments Off

Finemaster Dave McMonigle, ably assisted by Assistant Finemaster Geoff Tookey, got right to it with “Crime and Punishment.” It seems that Mahlon “The Butcher” Chinn has violated Code Section 597 by maliciously and intentionally killing animals. Although Dirk Hudson wasn’t familiar with the section, he was deemed fully competent to prosecute Mahlon for his crimes. [...]
